Diagnosis
The pain, inflammation and swelling in the area inside the penis or around it, requiring an immediate visit to the doctor. Do not wait, because a severe infection could compromise their fertility. The doctor will take a medical history and perform physical examinations of the rectum and prostate. This will be placed and insert a lubricated, gloved finger into the rectum to feel the prostate and determine if it is inflamed. Gently tighten the gland to force out the liquid inside, then be expelled in the urine. Then examine the urine for gonococcal bacteria and other microorganisms.

The doctor will try to differentiate prostatitis other inflammations of the prostate, such as:
* Prostatic hypertrophy (enlarged prostate)
* Prostate Cancer (more common in the elderly).

Treatment
If prostatitis is bacterial, antibiotic treatment is usually effective. If this does not solve the problem, the cause is probably a non-bacterial infection, in which case the doctor inserts a gloved finger into the rectum to empty the prostate massage and this will usually cure the problem.

To prevent infection
* Use condoms during intercourse, especially if your partner knows
* Perform a regular sex life, avoiding abrupt changes in the amount and frequency of sexual activity
* Limit the number of partners and sexual contacts
* If an enlarged prostate or prostatitis appellant, avoid taking medications for colds or allergies (especially antihistamines), aggravating the problem.

Signs and symptoms
Among the main symptoms are:
* Pelvic pain
* Pain or burning when urinating or defecating
* Blood in urine
* Check out secretions from the penis
* Loss of libido, impotence, erection or painful ejaculation
* Chills, fever or temperature increase in the perineal area.

Definition
It is a condition characterized by pain, swelling and inflammation of the prostate gland (prostate) that is located below the bladder, in front of the rectum. The urethra and seminal ducts of man, come together and pass through it. This gland produces a component of semen, fluid in which sperm move through the penis on ejaculation. It occurs most often in men between 20 and 30 years of age and often is a chronic problem.

Causes
The most common cause of this inflammatory disease is a bacterial infection, usually gonorrhea or another sexually transmitted disease. Other agencies are also transmitted sexually and chlamydia can also cause it. Less common is their development as a complication of mumps in young and adult.

In many cases, however, may not be signs of infection. Inflammation in these cases is due to an accumulation of seminal substances in the prostate gland and pipes that pass through it. Another possible cause is a sudden increase or decrease in sexual activity, requiring the gland in an effort to produce or store seminal fluid.
